R’Boys BBQ Rubs — the choice of cooks who demand championship‑level flavor

Seasoning a Brisket with R’Boys BBQ Plus Rub
Trim your brisket using the method you prefer. I trim mine similar to the Bar A BBQ style — clean lines, smooth edges, with a consistent fat cap that’s aero dynamic and cooks beautifully.
Once trimmed, apply mustard as your binder. Start on the underside of the brisket. Lay down a light coat of 16‑mesh black pepper, followed by a light layer of Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt, then a medium coat of R’Boys BBQ Plus Rub. Pat the seasoning in so it bonds tightly to the meat.
Flip the brisket to the fat‑cap presentation side. Apply mustard again, then repeat the order: 16‑mesh black pepper, Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt, and finally a heavy, even coat of R’Boys BBQ Plus Rub. Press the rub in to build a uniform layer that will form your bark.
Place the seasoned brisket in the refrigerator and dry brine overnight. When it’s time to cook, pull the brisket from the fridge and let it come up to room temperature.
Once your smoker reaches 140°F, set the brisket on the grate to capture that clean, deep smoke flavor. Run your cook at your preferred temperature and let it ride until it develops that signature R’Boys bark and rich Texas color.
When the bark is set, wrap the brisket in pink butcher paper with ½ cup of beef tallow, then return it to the smoker until it becomes probe‑tender. Let the brisket rest for at least two hours, then slice into what just might be the best brisket you’ve ever made.

“Never Too Old to Follow a Dream”
I’ve always heard the saying, “You’re never too old to follow your dreams.” I guess I’m putting that old adage to the test.
After retiring in 2020, I found myself chasing a new passion — learning how to make truly great BBQ. I struggled to find the right equipment, the right cuts of meat, and the perfect blend of spices to create the flavor I imagined. I was chasing that elusive dream of crafting BBQ worthy of the great pitmasters of Texas.
Every time a new seasoning hit YouTube, I’d start mixing ingredients, hoping to discover the blend that would finally satisfy my quest for the perfect BBQ. Sadly, nothing quite hit the mark.
Then one day, while working at my computer with the Food Network playing in the background, I heard something that stopped me cold — someone mentioned using more than just salt and pepper on their briskets. That was the spark. I got to work experimenting with that combination until I developed what I believe is the most complete BBQ rub available.
And that’s how R’Boys BBQ Plus Rub was born.
